It would be nice to have a feature for making an inventory of the DVD collection to check if all DVDs are there.

Example:
Starting the inventory feature and then all DVDs will be inserted via bar code again. After this DVD Profiler shall show if there is a DVD missing or if there are DVDs which are not in the collection actually, or if all DVDs are there. If not all DVDs are there it must show which DVDs are missing or whoch are not in the collection.

Once per year I am checking my whole collection, but with a paper list this is not very funny, trust me. With thousands of DVDs it would be much easier to use a notebook with the bar code scanner and an automatically check.

I don't own that many DVD's, but it sounds like an interesting idea.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

If you have a PDA, you could try the DVD Stock Taking from my signature link.

It's simple but it works.

That's a good idea for making sure your DVD keepcases are present but that won't necessarily mean the DVD's are actually IN the cases   .

Boy do I know that.  I have a jazz CD jewel case which is empty and Lord knows where the CD is.  I am half tempted to buy a second copy as I haven't had much luck in locating the CD.

Unless it was in the player in the last car I owned when I traded it in.

OK, thank you very much, I will try it. I own different Pocket PCs. And a few months ago I bought a Pocket PC with integrated bar code scanner. I thought it would be easier to scan all bar codes in a document and then export the list from DVD Profiler to compete these two lists. But if I can use an application for this, it would be much better.

You can also try the UPC Filter plugin (see my sig). It will allow you to flag all the barcodes you scan in. You can then do a "Invert Flags" to see which ones you didn't scan. It also has the option to create a txt file of all the UPC's that you scanned but it didn't find in your collection.

And it works very well!

I used it to recheck my collection of ~2000 a few months back. I plugged by barcode scanner into the laptop and in a few hours I can gone through my collection. I found a few from the early days that I had added by title that did not match the UPCs in my collection, fixed them all up quick!
