I'm a big fan of Alien Hominid (by the same creators), and was disappointed when I found out CC would be Xbox 360-only (I own a PS2), and also a download. Hopefully, as they did with Alien Hominid, it will come to other platforms later. | | | Adelaide Movie Buffs (info on special screenings, contests, bargains, etc. relevant to Adelaideans... and contests/bargains for other Aussies too!) |

This should be in line with the price cuts in Europe that happened a while back, right? Will the leftover 20GB Pros be the same price as the new 60GB Pros? It will be interesting to find out the results of this for next 2 to 3 months. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

The only difference between the Elite and Pro is black and 120gb hdd. Before the Elite had HDMI, but all the pro models come with HDMI. I don't know about the Arcade model. The size of the HDD is, in my opinion, not the smartest move on MS. They should have allowed you to put any 2.5" hdd you want. I wanted to see if Sony dropped their price. It looks like you can get the 80gb PS3 for 399 now. Didn't do much looking other than on Best Buy's site. Is this model backwards compatible? Not trying to get off topic and bring PS3 into the mix. I remember reading early in the summer that Sony was not going to lower their prices but they didn't say anything about giving you more though. |

| Posted: | | | | Some analysts think that this will mostly just shift the marketshare between the other models (like in Europe). For example, this makes the Elite less attractive so those potential buyers will pick up the Pro or an Arcade + HDD instead. Did they drop the price of the 120GB HDD or is it still $180? Some people believe MS will short the Arcade model to keep from losing money on the Arcade (basically, the bait and switch method). Only time will tell.
Anyway, this was a good move by MS. Actually, I think it's one of the only moves available to them. They don't want to continue losing months in the US. There's really nothing else they can do in the rest of the world since the price drops already occured overseas months ago. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

| Posted: | | | | An interest side note, the Xbox 360 completely sold out in Japan recently. MS Japan even released a statement apologizing. | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah, they had a new JRPG launch and the retailers and warehouse out there didn't stock up for obvious reasons. I believe that was the one week the X360 didn't come in last in Japan. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles |

| Posted: | | | | Oh really? And what would those "obvious" reasons be? After accusing everyone else in the other thread of doing nothing but taking pot-shots at the PS3 and here you are unable to resist making a dig at the Xbox for no good reason other than to make good news sound bad. |

| Posted: | | | | From what I heard, the surge in Xbox 360 sells in Japan was linked to the upcoming release of Inifinite Undiscovery (which is now out). | | | Schultzy - http://www.michaelschultz.net grenactics - The art of skillfully fraggin one’s opponent with the use of grenades or other compact explosive devices that are thrown by hand or projected. |

| Posted: | | | | I think you are referring to the week around August 10 (reported on Aug. 20). That's not the Infinite Undiscovery release. I can't find any news about a surge of sales in Japan past that time period. Would you mind providing a link to see if you are confusing the Aug. 10 week sell out (Tales of Vesperia) with the Infinite Undiscovery release (Sept. 11) in Japan? EDIT: I found the latest price drops in Japan for the week starting Sept. 1 and the sales numbers for that week. Quote: Though Japan has traditionally been a weak market for the Xbox 360, Microsoft recently applied price cuts of about 30 percent there, following a complete sellout thanks to the launch of popular RPG Tales of Vesperia. The basic Arcade SKU was discounted to to ¥19,800 ($183), the 60GB Pro to ¥29,800 ($276), and the 120GB Elite to ¥39,800 ($368). SourceXbox 360 sales following the price cuts in Japan (Sept. 1 through Sept. 7) was reported at 840 units by Famitsu. That is the latest report available for X360 hardware sales in Japan. | | | To err is human... ----------- 473 Blu-ray Titles | | | Last edited: by Ascended_Saiyan |
