| Posted: | | | | Some of you guys seem to have got it into your heads that if there is a way -- any way at all -- of accomplishing something in DVDP, any proposal of a different way to do it is "invalid".
Rubbish, I say.
There can be no invalid proposals. There may be good proposals and bad proposals for various technical reasons, but no invalid ones. A proposal is not bad just because there are other ways to do it. Every proposal must be considered only on its technical merits.

| Posted: | | | | Posting a Feature Request is not:
A mark of disrespect for the product. An expression of dislike for the product. An indication of lack of familiarity with the product or its extant features. A lack of sympathy for the beleaguered developers. A negative thing.
Au contraire, mes amis. A Feature Request is the best positive thing, an expression of a love for the product to the extent of wanting to make something about it better. It is a commitment to improvement, to progress. | | | -R. Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1; 64-bit DVD Profiler 3.8.1 |

| Posted: | | | | The problem is not the Feature Requests per se, even though they are subject to discussion and debate. The problem is that you, dav4is, like most newbs are not really bringing anything new to the table, though you seem to believe you are, that's all. You come across as though you are complaining about the product and that you have ALL the answers. After all it was You who posted
"These are what I consider to be essential features for DVDP to be a true DVD Profiler."
That struck me as an incredibly arrogant comment and my reaction wsa who the whatever do you think you are.
We have over EIGHT years of debate discussion on various things and what we thing of them, some of them ken has put into the program, some he has not yet. I am not saying you have made an invalid comments, I am saying you have not brought up anything new and IF you have the option to voice what you want to see as a feature, other users have an equal right to voice their opinion of your request and we do so quite freely and will continue to do so.
Ken has implemented some things in ways which i would NOT have done and I have said so, numerous times and will probably do so in the future. As I have said no two programmers will approach a problem in the same way or come up with the same solution to a problem, that's nature of programming.
Maybe you should step back from your posts and try and understand how you are coming across. Some of you comments clearly are those of a newbie who has yet to really explore and play with the program.

Quote: per se "at all" Quote: but I thought it appropriate to post it here nevertheless. Of course you did, you know best, eh? Quote: It is a request, made to the users who post things here, not to the program developers. Then it's not a FEATURE request is it? Not that you need to make MORE of them... Quote: Please extend a bit of latitude... In the same spirit with which you've taken advice and constructive criticism? For once I'm in 100% agreement with what Skip just said, particularly the quotation. No matter how many other forums you've spent time on, you've spent very little HERE, and basically all you've done since you have been here is poke holes and go on the defensive when people are annoyed at this. Again Skip's right, the arrogance of just blazing your way in here saying "I want this, I want this, make this happen or you're not good enough..." It's a system and a community with a long history ad very traditional patterns, none of which you've put any effort into accustoming yourself to. You've got all of 1 accepted submission to your name, so I'll go back to the last thing I said to you; why not spend some time actually taking part in, not just profile system, but the community itself? |

Believe me, it doesn't make you look good. So, with what part of my initial postings here do you disagree? | | | -R. Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1; 64-bit DVD Profiler 3.8.1 |

8>< advice and constructive criticism?
Don't make me laugh! There has been d__ned little constructive criticism directed at me. Mostly what I hear is "shut up and go away", "we have heard it before", "how could you possible know", "we have the experience, you don't" ... and so on. Criticism, yes, but hardly constructive -- in the sense of being helpful. | | | -R. Windows 7 (Home Premium) SP1; 64-bit DVD Profiler 3.8.1 |

Mostly what I hear is "shut up and go away", "we have heard it before", "how could you possible know", "we have the experience, you don't" ... and so on. I don't have the time or patience to read through your entire posting history, but from a quick look it would seem Nadja himself gave you constructive criticism a mere three days after you registered and only received a snarky reply in response. Is it any wonder people get fed up with your attitude and demanding tone? I'm sure there are other examples, I know I myself started off on a friendly footing but it quickly became clear I was wasting my time. That said, instead of spending an entire post harping at you, since you seem to want them, here's a few pointers/constructive crticism: - The search of this forum doesn't always work well. A workaround most of us use instead is to do a Google search with the prefix site:invelos.com. It's a good idea for you to use that when thinking of a feature request to ensure you don't create duplicate threads. - When making feature requests it would do you well to temper your tone a little. Part of the reason you're catching so much flack is your wording. I'm thinking of your tendency to say "need to" or "should" or "must have" as opposed to "it would be nice if" or "I'd prefer." Both Nadja and Skip have elaborated more on this in this very thread. - Ask about workarounds before creating new requests. I'm not saying the presence of a workaround invalidates a new request, but it shows effort and a willingness to learn the current ways of the program as opposed to someone who just wants it his way. So, with what part of my initial postings here do you disagree? Because they have been asked faer too many times, why don't you try perusing this particular forum. Skip | | | ASSUME NOTHING!!!!!! CBE, MBE, MoA and proud of it. Outta here

| Posted: | | | | IMO People should keep asking for the features they want, no matter how many times it's been requested in the past. It gives a better sense of how much desire there is for a feature. If something has been asked for "far too many times" it's a good indication that it's something that's worth looking at adding.
Unfortunately, as long as the forum search is broken we'll get new threads. 60+ pages is too much for any sane or employed person to browse. |

Only I think it should be done in the original thread. Not only does it help to keep the clutter down, it serves as a better indicator for Ken just how many people want a particular feature. Quoting Snark: Quote: Unfortunately, as long as the forum search is broken we'll get new threads. 60+ pages is too much for any sane or employed person to browse. Even with a crappy forum search there's no need to start a new thread. Google is a pretty decent alternative. Just preface your search terms with "site:invelos.com" KM | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles. You've got questions?
