Currently both Blu-Rays and DVD's have to go under the "Owned" column together.  If you want to separate them, you have to do it by media type and then Blu-Rays are together in alphabeticasl order and DVD's are together in alphabetical order.

However, I like to keep my movies in order by descending year of production.  Doing this mixes Blu-Rays and DVDs together.  There is no way to pick BOTH "sort by media type" AND "sort by production date"....... If there was this would solve the problem.

Right now I have all my Blu-rays under "owned" and and putting my DVD's under "wishlist".  Is there no way to get 2 owned colums?  One could be "Owned Blu-Rays" and the other could be "Owned DVDs".

I'm sure there are ALOT of people who would love to be able to have their collections separated and be able to order each collection the way they want instead of just by media typa and alphabetically.

Plus when their together inder the same column........ EVERYTHING gets mixed together in your "online collection".

I understand that request, though I'm not very interested, as I collect movies, not DVDs or Blu-rays. I think that Ken's answer to this request could be to add one or two customizable lists, so each user could use them for his own purpose (dvd or blu-ray, or ex-owned sold dvds, or anything else...)

In the mean time, what might work for you is to create a fake parent profile called "Blu Rays" or something similar, then add all your blu-ray titles as child profiles.
That way they'll all be listed under "Blu Rays" separate from your DVDs but you can still sort them all by year.

Would I still be able to see all under the 1 profile if I did that or would I have to switch between profiles?  Also, would they all still show on my online collection?

Mainly, I just like to have media types separated.......it would be really great f there was an easy way to separate the blu-rays and dvd's "owned" on a single profile.

Yes, all your titles would still be under one database, and when you upload it to the online, all your titles would appear there, though if I remember rightly they'd be all mixed up again.
All that should happen is you'll get a list of your DVDs, then a fake entry for a DVD called "Blu Ray" (give it a sort title of zzzzz to make sure it goes to the bottom) then under that a list of all your blu-rays as long as you've added them as box set contents to the "Blu Ray" profile.

and that the whole problem of it. Every form of keeping them separate is nothing more than a crappy workaround like every other so called solution of it. I like to have them separate with different numbering like something as Dxxxx for dvd and Bxxxx for blu-ray.

If it's a feature request that hasn't been asked a lot I wouldn't do it either but this gets asked over and over again. It can even number automatically it only needs to have a point to see the difference of Blu-ray or DVD and an option in the program if you want them separate or not in the view list.

At the moment I just don't have my Blu-ray here as I'm disappointed at the way you need to make the differences. It can be done so much easier, yet no time is put into it certainly for something that is asked over and over again.

if you use phpDVDprofiler (pdp) then you can have separate lists of Blu ray / dvds etc by using tags since pdp can use these tags to separate out the lists.

Have a look at my collection below - you can select blu ray in the drop down list. (In fact I have a total of about 14 different lists)

Sounds to me like like two separate databases one for BD and one for DVD. Though based on Paul's comment PHP would do the trick.

doesn't have to be 2 db's that's the whole thing everyone thinks it has to be but it's based of false assumptions. All It has to be is a field that seperates them both and from there you can work.
