| Posted: | | | | I would like it if the program would retain the date I order a dvd.
Shipping on some companies is slower than others and it would be nice to go back and see these dates over a long period of time. | | | Dan |

| Posted: | | | | Is that not something you could track in the "Notes" section?
ie. Ordered zx/cb/nm from so and so co. Arrived sd/gh/nm.

Then if you could look at it in charts and graphs it would allow you to see which companies take the longest to deliver and you could use that to help you determine who you were going to order from. For instance you want a movie one place has it for five dollars less then the other, you check and see the less expensive place normally takes a month to deliver, now maybe that five bucks isn't such a big deal. Just my two cents. |

Steve If it had it's own retained field I wouldn't have to re-enter it into the notes. For a few more reasons, see Sith's answer above. | | | Dan |

I always put the order date in the "Purchase Date" when I place an order, and then change it to the "receipt" date when it arrives. I'd like to e able to keep track of both. | | | Hal |

For regular orders, I enter the order date as the purchase date since that's the day I purchased it, regardless of shipping time. For pre-orders, I enter the release date as the purchase date. I never change either, but I have no objection to the request. | | | ...James

I never change either, but I have no objection to the request. I used to do this, but especially for pre-orders, there can be significant delays in shipping. I use the "By Purchase Date" sort function whenever I have to resort/renumber my collection, so it can move stuff around quite a bit depending on when it actually arrived. | | | Hal |

| Posted: | | | | I was going to mention that too, Hal, thanks.
I will add that with some e-tailers, the order date is not the date you are charged. DeepDiscount, for example, charges you on the date your order is shipped. With a pre-order this can be a delay of several months and if the item is out of stock, there is no telling what the delay might be. | | | Dan | | | Last edited: by Dan W |

I use the "By Purchase Date" sort function whenever I have to resort/renumber my collection, so it can move stuff around quite a bit depending on when it actually arrived. I understand. I just don't track the arrival date. I consider the act of purchasing to be the date I'd like to record. Using my method, for instance, when I participated in Deep Discount's Criterion sale, all of those Criterions appear together in my collection number sequence even though Deep Discount trickled them out to me as they stocked them. (For those not familiar with this sale, Deep Discount had a large discount on Criterions...except most were out of stock. So if you placed a large order [as I did ], your DVDs were shipped over a couple of months.) But everyone has their personal preferences, so as I said, I don't object to the request. Just giving a different perspective. | | | ...James

I'm sure you already know this but, if you track your Criterion sale "purchases" the way you described, you are tracking the order date and not the dates of purchase. DeepDiscount does not charge you until the day the DVD ships. | | | Dan |

The date that I'm charged or the date it arrives doesn't matter to me. | | | ...James
