We have now more and more blu-rays in steelbook cases, and it would be interesting to have them in the case type list. Another solution would be to have a shorter list, with a tickbox "HD".

I like the second option as it's more "future proof". If they start using snappers for Blu-ray for example, instead of having to request a new entry, we'd just use the tick box. It should be possible to auto update existing HD entries to this.

I don't think the extra category is needed.  There are no Blu-rays in conventional SteelBooks and it's easy enough to separate out Blu-ray SteelBooks from conventional SteelBooks by selecting disc formats.

And what about the option "Show banners for HD media in HD cases" ?

SteelBooks usually have the cover image printed on the actual steel case.  Just like a slip case, the entire case should be scanned...banner and all...so they won't need the banner displayed.

I agree with this.  The case type tells me if it's a steelbook or not.  If it is, the media type tells me if it's a DVD steelbook or a Blu-ray steelbook.  I don't see how adding a new case type adds value to the program, database or user.

Though nobody seems interested, I hope Ken will consider this request.

Waiting for that, I'll implement my usual customizing solution : translation file on an unused entry (with jewel, clamshell and envelope, I have the choice). For the banner, I'll add Invelos' one with a picture program, to have the same presentation for all my blu-rays...

I have to admit I don't understand the need for HD Steelbook either. The reason we have HD Keep Case and HD Slim is because they are a new style of case we didn't have around before HD discs started using them.
But the blu-ray Steelbooks look identical to DVD Steelbooks - nothing has been changed. And the banner is included on the front cover, so would be part of the scan.

Maybe a better way of doing it would be to ask for the option to switch the HD banners on or off each profile, even if the case type is not an HD case. Is that why you were wanting the new case type?

No, I want it just because it is different than DVD steelbooks (not the same size). And for banners, as it is reflecting metal, the scan is awful. By the way, there is more difference between a HD Steelbook and a HD Keepcase, than between a HD Keep case and a HD Slim, and we have both of those.

Anyway, I lived for years with a translation file to have 18 instead of Adult rating, and Crime instead of Family genre (and all this was corrected in 3.5  ), so I can live with HD Steelbook instead of Jewel (that I never saw anywhere) as long as necessary...

Wouldn't the whole scan have that same quality?  I don't understand wanting an 'awful' cover scan with a pristine HD banner.

When I've reflective covers, I spend hours to have a correct image. For the banner, Invelos'one is perfect...

Is that the steelbook case?  It doesn't look like the ones I have seen on-line.

My point, however, still stands.  Since the banner is part of the case, which is what we scan for steelbooks, the banner should be included in the scan.
