Hi all,

I don't know if anyone's raised this as a feature request, but how awesome would it be to be able to select a view of the cover scans on a 3d dvd case?

Even better would be if it were slowly rotating. Obviously the spine would be an issue, but it could easily generate the name of the dvd on the spine, or if the scans get upgraded to handle the spines, you could literally have a realistic spinning dvd case.

Good/bad idea?

We don't scan spine for copyright reasons. Rotating takes a lot of resources, its neat but.... Prismatics or lenticular covers are particularly nasty to scan, most scanners I know of have enough trouble with them without trying to figure out how to isolate imagery.

By the way Skip, nice to be back on the forum again

Copyright? Ah well, it could still be generated.

Well, technical issues would really be a case of how it is coded and how Invelos develops the feature.

So, if technical issues were not a factor.. and it could be done by Invelos.. would you want it?

(remember, it can be turned on or off..)

Personally, I have seen this technique used on websites, let alone standalone software... and it does look utterly amazing.

I am open to a lot of different things, this included. As to where I would put on a priority list....ummm I think there are other things Ken should look at first. This is one of those time when I wish I owned a copy of Delphi, it might be interesting to play with and see what can be done, oh well $700 is a lot of money to just play with it. That's a lot of DVDs or BDs.

Nice to see you back.

Why would having a scan of a spine be a copyright infringement where a scan of the cover would not?

The front/rear scans fall under Fair Use but if we included the spine, there wouldn't be anything to say DVDP users weren't creating full covers for pirated discs.

Didn't think of that.  Thanks.
