| Posted: | | | | Just a minor issue, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.
When I add a parent profile along with child profiles to my collection and I change the currency for Price Paid in the parent profile, I need to do this again in each individual child profile.
It would be nice if the programme itself would do that, i.e. if it would follow changes in currency for Price Paid in parent profiles and transfer them to the respective child profiles.
The same goes for purchase dates and purchase places.
Right now, you have to enter purchase dates, places and currencies for the parent and all its children. I would appreciate seeing this fixed at some point. |

No, thank you. Copying Price paid from parent would make a mess with total payed charts. For example I payed at the time 149EUR for The James Bond Collection which has 20 child profiles. Total result would be 21*149EUR on charts. Not good... Users use child profiles for so many different things, that I don't think that any automated thing in Personal information would do more good than harm. |

| Posted: | | | | You misunderstood my request. I never asked for Price Paid to be copied to the child profiles, merely for the currency to be copied, so e.g. changing euros to pounds, but NOT the AMOUNT - I agree that would be silly.
And then of course there is Date and Place of Purchase... I honestly can't see anything wrong with this - and in case of large box sets (e.g. one of those 50 movie packs) it's a bit annoying having to enter the same information time and again. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

| Posted: | | | | I welcome any automation in DVD Profiler. This is one of them that can save increadible amount of time for the user. I do not see any harm in automatically copy the currency, purchase date and place to the child profiles. However, the value of price payed should not be automatically copied to its child profiles as now understood by dee1959jay's latest post. But, for those that want to have thier price payed value copyed, it should be optional to do so. |

| Posted: | | | | The problem with this is that there are several boxsets out there that are not complete at first release (e.g. German Star Trek Shuttle Box which was released with the first 9 movies but had free space for the 10th) so that at completion of the "box" you have different purchase dates, and even might have different purchase places for the children.
For further details on this ask the collectors of the "anime"-boxsets. Obviously it happens quite often there that boxsets get completed over a longer time.
But the normal case would be that you enter them all in one go at the date of purchase and then your requested feature is already integrated, because as long as you don't close the "Add DVD" window, DVDProfiler remembers the last place and date of purchase and enters them automatically. | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

| Posted: | | | | Are you quite sure about that? I added a couple of box sets to my Ordered tab yesterday, said "Yes" to DVDP's question whether or not to download the children as well and nevertheless had to enter this info for all individual children. Hence my request. | | | Last edited: by dee1959jay |

My bad, sorry. I must read more carefully next time. Quote:

I have ~150 TV-seasons where most of them have disc based child profiles. I have all Personalized fields empty on childs. If the boxset is movies, then I fill Purchase place & date for childs too. I count't one TV-season as one profile (parent has collection number and childs doesn't) and movie boxsets just opposite (parent doesn't have collection number, but childs does). Same way varies how I use those fields and any sort of automation would effect this system. If such a feature is added, there should be possibility to disable it. |

Hence my request. It must have something to do with the way Profiler processes the information. I just had the program, automatically, download the child profiles for 'Heroes Season 1'. I purchased this set on 8/28/2007, from Target. That information, as well as the currency, was automatically added to the child profiles. When I do as you did above, the program will save the retailer and purchase date, but will prompt me for price paid and currency type. It seems that, while the program knows that they are child profiles, it is treating them as a regular DVD entry. In other words, it is dealing with them the same way it would if you were just adding a bunch of DVDs you had just purchased. I hope that makes sense. | | | No dictator, no invader can hold an imprisoned population by force of arms forever. There is no greater power in the universe than the need for freedom. | Posted: | | | | I too can confirm I just added Firefly The Complete Collection and when it asked to add the children I said yes and it popped up a new window for each disc and If I chose I could leave the price paid at 0 and it copied over all the rest of the information. |
