| Posted: | | | | I'm going to start this thread off by listing an example:
"Tom Woodruff, Jr" is the actor listed as playing the "Pumpkinhead" monster, a predator in AVP as a "Grid" , and the "lead primate creature" in the movie Evolution. "Tom Woodruff Jr" (note the lack of a comma between last name and "jr") is the same actor above who played as the "Lead Alien" in both Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection as well as "Isabella the gorilla" in Hollow Man
6 Films to his credit and yes its the same guy... but because of a comma he's only going to have two seperate profiles with 3 movies each.
My idea Similar to "Box Set Contents", allow for some actors to be assigned to another name as well so that the two names or spellings of the names are merged as of the user's choice.
There are several actors I've noticed who either went by a differently spelled name early in their career or have changed their name entirely. "The Rock - Dewayne Johnson" is another prime example.
Also, Kane (from See no Evil) is known under another name.
Thanks in advance for reading this |

| Posted: | | | | There is already capability to link names... using common name based on the most commonly credited form. It may not be the way I would have done it... but it is the way Invelos decided to do it.
There has recently been added an automatic filter for commas and initials to the main database... but it will take some time for us all to get it filtered through all the profiles. (It is done by our contributions) | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | IF every user follows the Rules for both initial data entry, and subsequently follows the Rules for establishing a Common Name and hopefully provides documentation for similar names being the same person plus the ACTUAL CLT results, instead of some vague "I checked and researched" then our linking system is workable. As Pete said is not the way i would have implemented it but it is.
The Rules are simple and not hard to follow at all unless one wishes to make them hard and if they are followed by all then we have no problem.
