I got a Box Set of Harry Potter  (Years 1-5)  last year and noticed that it is not available yet no matter which UPC number I enter. (one on each of the five slim dvd cases and the one on the box case)

I thought I'd be sneaky and select the box set for years 1-3  (which was on the list when I searched) and then just add the last two movies (which there are two conviently named  "Year 4 and Year 5)

Piece of cake right?

Wrong.

Sure this fixes the problem of auto adding all those actors and crew members..  for all five dvd's and then I can easily assign them to the "box set" which I can create.  But for the sake of "being correct" the UPC number will be different for those 1-5 dvd's....

Hence...

My idea
Allow to edit the UPC number of a DVD.  Useful for people who want to take a shortcut to making a box set addition like Harry Potter 1-5 or other large box sets by the method described above.

Right now the only number I can see which I may edit is the "Disc info number"  which is different.  Anyways..  editing the UPC number on "already entered" titles might help speed up adding large box sets.

oh oh that was one of the very few little things that I needed too - half of my collection is Polish releases so of course none of the barcodes are recognized but I didn't want to add all details manually. This way I'll have correct barcodes and once I change the relevant details (languages, subtitles, cover) - I could even add these to the database for any other future Poles who happen to own the same dvds as I do ;-)

First of all: welcome to the Asylum!

If you want to use an existing profile for a certain film as a basis to create a new (e.g. Polish) profile for the same film: here's a guide on how to do this. It's called "cloning" of profiles.

Just make sure you check which data are different in the release you own and make sure you specify in your contribution notes where you got your data from. And please follow the Contribution Rules.

Good luck and happy profiling!

Thanks for the welcome! And for the link to the contribution rules. I still think it will be some time before I start to do any of that... Too many Polish/French releases in my collection :/ I am determined to do all that but well, it will be a while before I get to editing 200 titles I've added so far.... eek.. From now on, I'm definitely only buying UK/US releases ;-)
