| Posted: | | | | Sorry if this has been beaten to death already... but why wouldn't Invelos want to support Iphone? Regardless of the split in profit Apple takes, there aren't any good competitors?.... I mean.. come on...collectorz... really? is this our only choice... to move to another database system?
Please help me understand why this opportunity to delivery a valuable product to the customer base, along with making a boatload of cash is a bad idea?
Thanks |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks Draxen. It looks like I didn't search well enough before asking the question. Also, thanks Ken...I'm sure the Iphone version will quickly become a top app.

Thus has been a very long time coming and for someone who has an iPhone I really am surprised it has taken Ken this long...this was first mooted over a year ago in June of 2008; http://www.invelos.com/Forums.aspx?task=viewtopic&topicID=281652&PageNum=1&x=0#M654999 I can but live in hope... | Posted: | | | | Well I for one have gotten fed up of waiting and have literally given up in despair. There seems to be a great solution made by Collectorz in the form of Movie Collector and its sister iPhone app Clz MovieImporting my DVDProfiler database took a matter of minutes and I am now in a position to load up my DVD collection on my iPhone at long last so no more buying duplicates or missing out on a bargain because I thought it was already in my collection. It also has an MCE plug-in for good measure and they also have a solution that will do the same for CD's, Comics & Books again using the iPhone. There is also Game, MP3 & Photo Collector to boot. Sorry Ken...I am a long time DVDProfiler supporter going back to 0.9.5 in 2000 when you were Intervocative but the silence and apparent lack of progress of a DVDProfiler iPhone app has been deafening to say the least and I have had to call it a day. I tried the DVDProfiler Mobile but it never worked for me and anyway I haven't carried an iPAQ in years - even TomTom stopped supporting most iPAQ's years ago...it is available on the iPhone though! That's not to say I wouldn't return if/when the iPhone app is released but I have waited far too long as it is. I mean in June 2008 you said; Quote: "I was in line for my iPhone on day one and would also love a native DVD Profiler for it." What a missed opportunity to have cornered the market... So now you have the best of both worlds. You will still need Profler for the database updates and export. You're already paid up, so thats a good thing. When the iPhone app ships, grab that one also and you'll be able to skip the import step. See ya back here, real soon ... Meanwhile, get some good experience with CZ, so you can help me with my upgrade to BulkEdit someday in the future. We want to give the CZ guys just as easy a path to come back "home". | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! To be honest I would much rather use DVDP as not only I have used it for a long time but it does a great job...with the exception of being able to take my library around with me on my iPhone of course... It would be the cheaper option also because as you say I have already purchased it! I would gladly have shelled out for its sister iPhone app in a heartbeat also...and may still do so if/when it becomes available but after nearly 18 months the silence is deafening despite many questions about its progress and I have decided to go with Plan B... But why are you under the mistaken illusion that I would still need DVDP for the database updates & export? Movie Collector is capable of reading the DVD disc itself to input into its own database in addition to scanning the barcode or entering it manually before downloading the relevant info, images etc. so I don't quite understand your sarcasm... I am new to Movie Collector and so haven't had time to learn its own idiosyncracies yet but I have owned Music Collector since 2001 and it does of course have a family feel. Might even look at Photo Collector to replace Thumbs Plus to keep things familiar if I get on with the other Collectorz programs... As a registered user of DVDProfiler I can pop back any time I like to see if the iPhone app has appeared...I have been doing this for nearly 18 months now so I know what disappointment feels like already but I can live in hope. It wasn't sarcasm. It might have been ignorance. I just thought that was what people mostly do. Since I don't use CZ, I guess I was mistaken. | | | Thanks for your support. Apologies if I misinterpreted your post mediadogg, I thought I was up against some 'fanboy mentality' for a minute... ...sorry. To those of you who might be in the same situation as me I can vouch for the fact that the Collectorz solution really does work. I purchased MovieCollector Pro using the Coupon Code IMHAPPY which gave me 10% off although there is another 10% Mail-In rebate going on at the moment but unfortunately the offers cannot be combined. To save me a lot of time I imported my DVDP database into MovieCollector using the specific Import from DVDProfiler option on the File Menu...seamless...all 620 Movies appeared in MC with the exception of the cover art until I realised I either had to point at the existing \images folder or copy the images over! I then purchased the iPhone app, chose Export to Clz Movies on iPhone/iPOD Touch from within Movie Collector and my whole library was zapped across wirelessly within @ 30 seconds. Give the app another 30 seconds to organize itself and bingo...my whole DVD collection to hand on my iPhone! Never again will I buy a duplicate disc or miss out on a bargain because I thought I already had it in my collection. I am still interested in the DVDProfiler iPhone app and may also purchase this if/when it is released but I wish I had discovered the Collectorz solution a long time ago as it would have paid for itself by now... I would just stress that I am in no way affiliated with Collectorz just a happy customer who purchased Music Collector way back in 2000 - although I stopped using it a few years ago I might just resurrect it so I can use another of the Collectorz iPhone apps to keep details of my whole CD libary to hand. Hope that helps. Kind regards, -=Glyn=- | | | Last edited: by Glyn |

| Posted: | | | | I wish there was even the slightest word about a Profiler Iphone app... just one or two words from Ken to say... Still in the works.. or promise by April 2010 or anything... something to hang my hat on.
I just don't seem to understand why the most popular phone (web interface combo) in the world isn't being vigorously pursued?
When I raised this line of inquiry Draxen suggested that I had missed information, and that I was mistaken in believing Ken wasn't supporting the Iphone. Yet, it seems the topic resonates with more people than previously thought.
As Glyn points out the need was great enough for him to shell out $50 for Collectorz and an additional $10 for the iphone portion. Also, I will bet money that Glyn (or I) would be much happier giving that to Ken, who we have both supported forever. Truly breaks my heart to even consider jumping ship.
How do we change the current situation?
Ken, please give us something to hope for... consider, ponder or help us understand why this topic deserves your silence? |

| Posted: | | | | Well that's great news Ken! You don't know how long I've waited for you to say something like that...well you might have if you have read my other posts... You will still get my dollars when your iPhone version comes out...I only wish you could have done something sooner... Until then the Collectorz is a fine solution and has paid for itself in the short time I have had it. Thanks & kind regards, -=Glyn=- |

| Posted: | | | | Glyn,
I may not understand your issue but I use my iPhone to make sure I'm not buying duplicate movies. I just use the web browser to view my online collection. I realize I can't make any changes to my collection, but being able to determine if I already have the DVD while in a store is great. |

I realize I can't make any changes to my collection, but being able to determine if I already have the DVD while in a store is great. That's definitely one of the ways I'd like to use an iPhone version of DVDP. But there are other instances where I can see myself using it with editing abilities, e.g.: After watching a Blu-ray, I now always need to go the computer room, turn on the comp, launch DVDP and input the view date and my rating of the movie. It would be great to have my iPhone next to me on the sofa and right after watching a blu, input that data and only synchronize when I turn my computer on next. So I'd definitely welcome an 'editable' portable version of DVDP | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |
