| Posted: | | | | Hi,
As much as I like the online collection, not all of my friends want to register an account to be able to see the collection here. I would be great if you would finally offer a better export feature that can create static HTML pages with thumbnails, detail pages, index, covers,... (like almost all of your competitors do - and the one big competitor really excells in).
Another option would be to add something like access keys to the online collection. I'm thinking about a feature where you can select what should be visible an then create an access key (+URL) for this that can be simply sent to some people. And everyone should be able to create at least 10 keys, which also should be revokable and contain a checksum (for security). For example:
1. Select that everything but adult titles can be seen, then click on "create access key". 2. You get a page with the key like AA94B-2390N-7709F-DCL23 and a URL like http://collection.invelos.com/show.aspx?key=AA94B-2390N-7709F-DCL23
I would be great if you could think about this, since at the moment this lack of export features and anonymous collection viewing (without the collection being public) are in my opinion the biggest blemished of DVD Profiler.
Also the online collection is really (and I mean really) out of date. It would be good to bring it into the 21st century and throw in a few more layouts too.
Cheers, Elandril |

| Posted: | | | | While I agree the online needs updating badly... you don't have to register here to see someone's online list. I send people to mine all the time. If you seem to be having a problem with it... check your settings here. | | | Pete |

| Posted: | | | | At the moment you can only anonymously view a collection if it is set to "public".
If the collector doesn't want everyone to see their collection (meaning it's set to "private"), then you do need an account and to be added to the friends list (with permissions to view the collection).
My aim would be a system where I can sent a link with an access key to my friends so that they don't need to register - or alternatively a way to export my collection to a static html file/folder structure which I can zip up and send around. |

| Posted: | | | | just make a second non paid account something like ElandrilGuest and have all your friends use that Account and password
*edit* or you can probably set up PHP Profiler on personal webspace and handle the security there

In the interim, if you want to play with some ideas, perhaps you could provide a sample HTML layout that you have in mind. You can experiment with HTmL sections to get the profile layout. Then you could create a sample index page. Given that, we could mess around with one or more of these options: (1) phpProfiler - I forget who owns this one ... (2) XSLT script to convert xml to HTML - Mithi is King (3) Muckl HTML magic (4) DVDProfileLoop - my plugin for custom formatting of DVDP data Edit: Use CC Viewer to create static HTML pages - hmmm, I have to look into this! Sorry Tom, I didn't know. This could give Ken some ideas for what kind of screens you have in mind, although I have found that it is hard to beat his creative sense for GUI design ... | | | Thanks for your support. If you want to send them around, why HTML? Find a nice Report to your liking and print it as PDF or XPS! XPS writer (a virtual printer) and viewer are present on Windows 7. (and Vista according to the link above) Likewise are there programs that allows you to print to PDF, e.g. Cute PDF. And of course there is still phpDVDProfiler, where you can configure everything as you want (given that you have a website that supports SQL and PHP) which also can produce "last watched"-banners: Or output static HTML via XML/XSLT, see my signature. cya, Mithi | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki | | | Last edited: by Mithi |

| Posted: | | | | My Cinematic Collection Viewer can create static HTML pages. For an example see here. You can import the DVD Profiler collection into CCViewer, of course. | | |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for all the tipps - I will try them out... though something directly included in DVDP would still be not too much to ask for (since other competing products already have such functionalities). |

Well certainly not too much to ask for, but it may not be reasonable to expect, given other priorities. I think that the fact that you are here, having chosen DVDP over the competition, confirms Kens choices. But then, I am only speculating: we could wake up some Monday and find the feature you asked for. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here.
