| Posted: | | | | The best is to add a new media : Digital Copy
The program already allows to do that : Menu Tools > Edit Media Types > Add | | | Images from movies | | | Last edited: by surfeur51 |

| Posted: | | | | That seems the best solution - you could even look for an already complete profile by searching by title and editing that to suit your needs.
In terms of the online, the reason they can't be added there is because there is no unique identifier (such as barcode or disc ID) to use for the profile. |

| Posted: | | | | If Itunes is selling digital copies then they have gone from being just additions to this dvd or that to something legally sold on the open market. Yes they aren't using UPC as an identifier - other than in tv episodes I haven't been able to find an identifier.
Maybe for a digital option rather than UPC there could be an option to input invoice numbers in addition to all the other data. I realize that doesn't really sound viable...and understand the whole concept of using UPC for multiple reasons. I just think DC is something that is here now.
If DP is moving into Ipod, Iphone, Ipad mobile app options...which are tied into Itunes; Digital Copy shouldn't be a custom event type. It is a reality. So when the market doesn't come up with a solution for you....it makes sense for trail blazers such as Invelos to create a solution nobody has thought of.

Just something to think about. In the future when I have dvd profiler on my phone or ipad...I'm looking through the wishlist of movies I want. I select a title I want to purchase, and DP automatically jumps to itunes for immediate download. Or a dialog box pops up and says itunes doesn't have this title....do you wish to go to (amazon.ca?) Ideally DP would choose the best hard copy provider based on your geographic location. Kind of like Itunes knowing if you are in the US or Canada. This isn't fantasy...this is possibility, which can turn into reality.
....just maybe not in version 1 or 3.7 respectively. Love DP just the same. Keep up the great work! |

| Posted: | | | | I think that digital copies are here to stay and DP needs to have the ability to track them. DVD Collector does a pretty good job of giving a location to enter location\filename of movies and TV episodes. I think DV is loosing some business not having this option. I really like DP but I would really like to see that feature instead of having to use another program to get that functionality. |

You don't have to use another program to get this. You just have to do it manually instead (see above). | | | If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

| Posted: | | | | I think the best (and only) option to add them is to add manual profiles and use a custom media type. You can then download a profile of a that movie based on disc and copy-paste the information you need from there (running time, crew, cast) to save a lot of work.
I understand the need for people who solely buy digital downloads to be able to add their digital copies to the online and download, like we do with disc-based releases. The problem is indeed to find a unique indentifier. With disc-based media, we have both the UPC as well as the disc ID. The only thing that, in my opinion, might possible work, is to add digital copies using it's MD5 checksum or something similar. But I'm not sure if that's even technically possible or if it would yield a unique identifier per file. | | | Blu-ray collection DVD collection My Games My Trophies |

| Posted: | | | | While I was playing around with my plugin LoadDVD, I discovered that the digital copies that came with several of recent BD purchases, had a filename that was related to the label of the main movie. So I was able to synthesize a filepath to play the movie:
labelSideA + "_PC_EN.WMV" created the filename for the HD movie, and labelSideA + "_PORT_EN.WMV" created the filename for the portable version,
Where labelSideA was something like "District9BD_2009" or "TheDarkKnight".
I'm not sure how many digital copy filenames have this kind of correspondence to the main movie disc label. If it is close to a standard, you could just use the profile for a BD, which often already has a digital copy disc in the profile - or you can just create a disc and use the synthesized filepath in the Location field.
For example, [PLY] M:\digitalcopies\%labelSideA%_PC_EN.WMV will play the movie when you click on the disc icon. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! BDPFrog. | | | Last edited: by mediadogg |
