| Posted: | | | | Haven't seen this mentioned anywhere: Might it be possible to have a global option to select in which way additional characters (like ä,ö,ü) have to be sorted? As it looks now, those are inserted after z. I think many users would like to have them seen (in other words to be sorted) as e.g. ä = a or ä = ae.
For it's a little annoying to change the sorting string for every dvd manually, i'd really be happy about such option. |

So, "No, thank you" from me for this idea. http://users.jyu.fi/~pamakine/kieli/suomi/aanneoppi/aakkoseten.html |

http://users.jyu.fi/~pamakine/kieli/suomi/aanneoppi/aakkoseten.html I talked about an option to select wheter they should be sorted after z or as "ae", not for an replacement of the way it's handled atm. By the way: the german ä,ö and ü really do not belong after z, for they are just abbreviations for "ae","oe" and "ue", in contradiction to Finnish, as your link proofs ; thanks for the link, the different interpratations in different languages just confirms my idea of options to select from. | | | Last edited: by Speedy79 |

Depending on the country. So as asked in the op, an option to choose which sorting you'd like, would be great, so everyone could make it as he/she wants or as it is typical for his country. | | | Last edited: by VirusPil |

| Posted: | | | | The only slight problem with the request is if you want to have the actors sorted by the rules of their nationality. Since the accented characters are shared between them, it would be an either/or for all. Unless we started tracking nationalities for actors as well |

As it stands now, Aeon Flux is sorted after the 'Z' in my collection whereas I feel it would be better placed in the 'A' section. I'd like to have this option for titles. You could just change the sort title. |
