| Posted: | | | | The crew entry for editing only has one, extremely inaccurate, entry: Film Editor
Ever since electronic non-linear editing has come into play, in both movies and more specifically, television shows, Film Editor has been replaced with either Editor or Edited by.
The Crew Film Editor category needs to be renamed to Editor and contain three choices: Film Editor, Editor, Edited by
As it stands right now, many (and I mean many) editors are being put into the database incorrectly. | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |

As it stands right now, many (and I mean many) editors are being put into the database incorrectly. If these category names really bother you, you can, in your local DB, create a translation file. This will allow you to see what ever you want it to say. If you want it to say "Linear Editor", you can alter, for yourself, to make it say that. As a matter of fact, you can alter just about anything within the program. As for me, I don't see the big deal about it. It is a category and a title that people understand. Change it locally if you choose. Charlie |

| Posted: | | | | It could perhaps be better named, but is named this way to disambiguate from sound editors, story editors, etc. We had this discussion when the feature was added. |

| Posted: | | | | Edited By is already in the contribution rules as acceptable for Film Editor. | | | My one wish for the DVD Profiler online database: Ban or remove the disc-level profiles of TV season sets. It completely screws up/inflates the CLT. FACT: Imdb is WRONG 70% of the time! Misspelled cast, incomplete cast, wrong cast/crew roles. So for those who want DVD Profiler to be "as perfect as Imdb", good luck with that. Stop adding UNIT crew! They're invalid credits. Stop it! |

| Posted: | | | | Personally I have no problems with the function being referred to as "Film Editor" but if it were to get changed I'd suggest "Picture Editor." Many editors refer to themselves as exactly that. | | | Tags, tags, bo bags, banana fana fo fags, mi my mo mags, TAGS! Dolly's not alone. You can also clone profiles. You've got questions? Many editors refer to themselves as exactly that. I think I'd prefer to not have it changed at all. A better solution is to use custom roles. What I would like is for the custom role field to be larger and contributable. --------------- |

I'm not sure if you misunderstood my posting. It is a two-parter. The first part is to fix the category title. It isn't just "Film Editor" anymore. See above response for the category name change. The second part is that two MORE roles entries are needed. I never said to take away the "Film Editor" role, but to add two more: "Edited by" and "Editor" | | | Mr Video Productions If it isn't Unix, it isn't an OS :-) |

Can't contribute local modifications. The point is to correct wrong credits in the database. The online DB is just a list and tag. If you change it in your, then you will see it as you want. This can be contributed, just we will not see it that way. For me, this isn't very important. Except for the fact, that you see this as extremely inaccurate, everybody seems to understand what goes into that field, and there is rarely a question about it. Charlie |
