| Posted: | | | | I had asked about this in the old IVS forum: Would it be possible to add an entry to the Edition drop down menu for rental editions? They're quite common in Germany and other European countries, and as I've heard Blockbuster began releasing exclusive rental editions in the US lately as well... | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | I second that... since a lot of rental/retail DVDs in germany have different EANs/UPCs, it is neccessary to have the possibility to mark them correctly. After all, it's only about adding 2 new entries to the "edition" pull-down menu... | | | Last edited: by SpaceFreakMicha |

It would also be nice to be able to add the users who you watched them with. | | | HDTV: 52" Toshiba Regza 52XV545U AVR: Onkyo TR-707 Speakers: Paradigm Monitor 7 v6, CC-190 & Atom Monitors Subwoofer: Definitive Technology ProSub 800 BD/DVD: Oppo BDP-93 (Region Free) HD PVR: Motorola DXC3400 500GB w/ 1TB Expander BD/DVD/Game: 250GB PS3 Slim DVD/Game: 250GB XBox 360 Elite Special Edition (Black) Game: Wii Remote: Logitech Harmony One w/ PS3 Adapter WHS: Acer H341 Windows Home Server |

Skip Sure it would. ...and regarding the My Profiler collection, one could surely select whether to display the tab or not, just like we can do know with the existing tabs. @Caranthir: I think in general a "user defined" tab would be better, so that you could track rented stuff, while others can track whatever they want to... You are aware that you can filter by "Currently Loaned"...? | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

| Posted: | | | | Sorry, I don't mean to be rude or ignorant, but could we please keep the request and discussion about a rented tab out of this thread regarding the addition of a rental edition description to the program? I feel me request getting sidetracked.... | | | Lutz |

Ken, would it be possible to add "rental Edtion" to the Edition drop down or, even better, implement a check box controlled entry in the general information window? | | | Lutz |

| Posted: | | | | As the dropdown is just a list of suggestions and everyone can manually enter whatever he wants, it would make more sense to just populate the dropdown with whatever your latest entries were. This would suit everyone and in your case you'd only have to type Rental Version once. Plus, the current list has some dubious entries anyway. |

| Posted: | | | | I like that idea, but if you enter the Edition for rental versions as free text, i. e. the users get to choose the name, you'll end up with a lot of different words for the same Edition (hope I make sense...).
I'd rather have this set up to a predetermined Edition used universally for all regions and locations to avoid further argument. | | | Lutz |

First a question: if you would enter the Edition as being a rental version, surely it must be because the box says on the front it's a rental version ? E.g. I have Chronicles of Riddick which mentions in a huge banner 'Rental Version'. That one went into the Edition. I recently bought new (!) a DVD and at home noticed in a small box on the back 'for rental only'. Well, as it is not on the front, I just don't enter an Edition. Anyway, I see what you mean, but we are then getting into the discussion of when to use the Edition tag and when not. I think a lot of problems would be solved if we just agreed that we only use it when the box mentions the editions. Surely, you then could have 2 DVDs with exactly the same title and no edition, and the only way to tell the difference would be to look at the fine details such as audio tracks, subtitles, cover images, etc... But what's the problem with that ? And isn't there a similar problem with remakes ? I am pretty sure the remakes also don't carry the 'Remake' edition, so if you have both the original and the remake, there is also no way to tell the difference from just the title. That's why I'm kinda opposed to all this DTS edition BS... Some people insist on putting 'DTS' in the edition even if the cover doesn't mention it. This seams so arbitrary to me as DTS is just an extra audio track and surely there are other differences between the two editions. And maybe for them DTS is important, but for me Dutch subtitles are important, and I don't see myself adding 'Subbed in Dutch' in the Edition if there would be one with and one without... |
