| Posted: | | | | This is really a couple of questions / ideas regarding tags.
Is there a "tag thread"?
I'd love to see an exhaustive discussion of how people are using tags and what they are tracking with tags.
Feature: It occurred to me that tags could be collaborative, with an export / import function. Maybe there could be a "tag registry" where users registered tags / child tags and an ID type number was assigned along with some description. Then people could change the tag name to fit their language / locality.
I've got a set of info that I track with tags, and I'm sure that more experienced collectors have lots more and better ideas on this subject. If it could be an optional but collaborative effort, like the film database itself, there is little limit to new uses and purposes that the application could serve. |

| Posted: | | | | I have bookmarked this thread back in 2007 which has several useful ideas. I doubt there will ever be any built-in tag sharing function since so many people use them in so many different ways. | | | Kevin |

| Posted: | | | | Thanks for pointing me to this great thread! It certainly answers one of my requests.
Many of these tags are ones I'm using in one form or another.
I have lots of non-English language titles, and since I like to identify all the films that include a given language, I have tags for language. This is one sort of tag that might lend itself to shared info / updating across users.
The awards plugin looks like it could be worth trying, but since I only have one Windows 7 computer (the rest are win2k) I'm locked out of that.
I lump my awards into these tags:
Awards & Nominations - Academies (Oscar, Cesar, etc.) - Associations, Societies, other - Audience - Critics - Festivals - Many - Minor And I suppose I could add ... * AFI list * National Registry Film I also track what I haven't - Finished - Opened - Watched Netflix availability - Blu-Ray - DVD - Streaming - Unavailable (I like knowing which titles you can't watch on Netflix!)
Whether the title includes:
- Bonus discs - Booklet - Chapter Insert - Marketing inserts (non-title specific) - Slip Cover, Case I've traded for a lot of discs on Swap.com, so I have tags for Amazon price range values. I also track the price paid for the ones purchased and vendor. From reviewing others' lists, I'll be adding Criterion collection Black / White Silent Thanks again for the link. |

| Posted: | | | | Criterion collection shows up as a media company, so a tag is redundant. |

| Posted: | | | | We also have filters for watched and booklet (as an other feature). |

| Posted: | | | | When I want to get rid of a tag (like not watched), how do I clear that value so that I can delete the tag?
Doing it one by one is really tedious. |

That's true, but e.g. I 'need' the Criterion-Tab for my online-list, how else could I point people to all my Criterion-Titles? Teach them how to use word search on webpages |

Apologies in advance for what may be a dumb question, but I'm wondering how your listing came to look the way it does, with navigation and search stuff that my default Invelos listing lacks? |

Well this list has nothing to do with the Invelos-listing. It's phpDVDProfiler(*) an alternative to the slightly dated online-list. To use it you need your own webspace with PHP and mySQL. cya, Mithi (*) You'll need an account to see the downloadable files. | | | Mithi's little XSLT tinkering - the power of XML --- DVD-Profiler Mini-Wiki |
