| Posted: | | | | I would like to be able to inform/warn other users about some issues in some particular releases. Field could be called for example "General Notes about this release" or "Good to know about this release". No strict rules for usage needed, voters would deside which info they like usefull and which not. For example field could be used for information like:
- Incorrect Aspect Ratio (not original) - Burned in subtitles - Problems with finnish subtitles - Authorization error, Chapter #15 missing, 4min of total lenght. Corrected version released with UPC:xxxxx - Finnish subtitles missing from episodes 20-22 (in case of TV-series) - Note: Bonus disc only region 2 (in case the main feature is 2,4) - 1080i50 (in case of Blu-ray) etc.
So in general a warning/notification field for people comparing different versions before purchase. What ever users find USEFUL. The field should NOT be used to point out personal preferences, for example:
- Word "colour" misspelled on overview
Any support/comments? |

Any support/comments? This may have the potential of being a useful feature, but I think endless bickering over what is "useful" and what is inconsequential will not be worth it. Also, these notes would have to be specific to each release, just like cover art is, and not transferable between different profiles of the same movie like cast and crew lists are. I think that would be hard to enforce, and I'd rather not have this feature than to have it filled with bad data. I would still like to keep a local, private set of notes even if this were implemented. --------------- |

| Posted: | | | | While I can see from where Kulju is coming, I fear that this info will come too late for many users. In my experience most users only download a profile after they bought the disc. (Slightly Off-Topic) Regarding: Quote: - Note: Bonus disc only region 2 (in case the main feature is 2,4) Funnily I would give the package a Region 2 in cases like that. For me it always was the most restricted disc of a set that determines the region of the package. But then again, this is only me. I don't want to overly distract from the main point of Kulju's proposal, so if someone wants to discuss my statement, feel free to open a thread in the "Contribution"-forum | | | It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up! But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Why do people in these forums always thinks the worst possible scenarios first? Does that tell something about us? Quote:

I don't get this Every field we have at the moment is tied to that particular profile, unfortunately Cast & Crew too. So there wouldn't be any difference related to any other fields we have. |

In my experience most users only download a profile after they bought the disc. Not necessarily, I've had several discs which have been replaced by distributor without any charge after they have a new release out with previous release problems fixed. Sometimes corrected re-releases are released with new UPC, sometimes just DiscID is different. It would be nice know that you don't have a faulty version. Again a few days ago I found a release that had left and right audio channels reversed. Quote:

Unfortunately this isn't mentioned in the rules so practises varie per user I think. Also If TV-series have 24 episodes and 22 of them have finnish subtitles, should I check finnish for subtitles or not? Main purpose of this field would be to share important information about that particular DVD release, not about the film itself. | | | Last edited: by Kulju |

| Posted: | | | | OK, maybe the name could be better to minimize ping ponging. "Technical Notes" maybe? |
