| Posted: | | | | I like to order my collection numbers by purchase date. Every now and then it becomes necessary to reassign collection numbers, though. For instance when someone adds child profiles to an old profile... But when doing a Reassign Collection Numbers in today's version, the collection numbers can get REALLY screwed up, putting child profiles randomly among other other profiles purchased on the same date, instead of directly under its parent profile.
So my request is this; when doing a Reassign Collection Numbers, let parent/child profile relationships take precedent over the alphabet, so that all child profiles have their collection numbers in direct relation with the parent. The parent should always have the lowest number in the sequence too. As it is now the parent profile can get a number in the middle of its child profiles, which also looks messy...
And if someone prefers it as it is today, just make the above suggestions as options in the Reassign Collection Numbers dialog...
Sorry if this has been suggested before. Hoping it will be implemented, though. Thanks! |

| Posted: | | | | Usually I work my way around such complications by putting the Sort Title field to good use. However if people are experiencing this to be a problem, I'm all for cartman's request. |

| Posted: | | | | The idea of using the Sort Title field for such purposes has never even struck me. I see how it can amend the current situation, but it still seems like a clunky manual workaround for something that could be easily fixed automatically with a few lines of extra codes... I'm not too fond of the idea of going through hundreds of child profiles to add a different sort title... |

| Posted: | | | | I can see where you're coming from. I had a loooong session sorting this out once and for all. E.g. with complete TV series, I've gotten into the habit of putting something like xxxxx: Season 01: Episodes 01-04 into the Sort Title field, which will keep the individual seasons and the episodes neatly ordered. |
