For still refusing to reinstate the song When Love Is Gone, from the Muppet's Christmas Carol 20th Anniversary edition. This was one of the first films i seen as a kid, and i still have lot of nostalgia for it over the years.

I hope anyone else who enjoys this film will boycott this release, and make Disney finally see sense.

In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

They have the rights, just they thought kid's would not understand the emotions involved with the scene.

Apparently the song in question was cut from the original theatrical release, ostensibly for pacing reasons, and the print they used for the basis of the blu is likely a theatrical print.

However, it is available on the pan&scan version on this release:

The Muppet Christmas Carol: Kermit's 50th Anniversary Edition

Region 1

Released: 11/29/2005

Anamorphic 1.85:1

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world.

I'm guessing the theatrical negative/print is probably readily available, whereas Disney would have to do some extra work to insert the missing song. Too bad they couldn't at least include it as a deleted scene extra.

I was aware of this release, but i thought by the 20th anniversary, Disney would have seen the error of there ways. Given the success of Pixar in the last decade or so, who's films contain many adult elements and theme's, yet still retain a core child audience. You would think that.

But no there obstinate's still persists, and now it seems i have no choice but to opt for this all be it technically inferior release. Yet the only release on DvD that contain's the key scene which pertains to Scrooges motives!

I just got the Amazon Exclusive Three-Disc Gold Cover Collector's Edition and it includes the DVD with the Widescreen Theatrical Edition and Full-Frame Extended Edition which has the song in question.
The song only lasted 2 minutes and added to Scrooge's sadness.

I take it that the collector's edition will only be available for a limited time only?
