read yesterday that JJ Abrams turned down the offer to direct the next chapter of the franchise for 2015 release . .which begs this question for us here..

Who would you like to see Direct the next Chapter??
In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. Now the World is weird and People take Prozac to make it Normal.

I'm far less concerned about who the director is than I am about Lucas' interference.  I understand he claims to be out, but how strong will the temptation be once production really gears up?  Beyond that, I'm not sure if I care because I think almost anybody can do a better job, assuming they don't believe they're a genius.

Frankly, I wouldn't expect a really big name to get attached to this.  This will not be an opportunity for a director to put his "stamp" on Star Wars.  This is going to be a safe popcorn tentpole to protect Disney's investment.  As such, the producers are going to be far more important than who the director is.

Even if Lucas wants to be more involved, it isn't his decision.  Hopefully the can come up with a good story, script and go from there.

But in fact, I don't think he could mess it up more than Lucas did with Episodes I - III.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

Steven Spielberg - I'd like to see him try his hand at a Star Wars movie - after all the encouraging advice he gave George Lucas about the prequels.

Christopher Nolan or Paul Thomas Anderson could do something great with it... but I hated all the new movies (episodes 1-3), so I have no high hopes. And I think it would be wise for these two directors to stay away...

Nolan would never do it any way. The constraints of an all already established franchise, that is completely closed, to any reinterpretation. Is something that goes completely against, who he is as a director.

Imagine if he was allowed to though.

Chewbacca "RAWWRRRRRR"

Lucke "What's he saying Han?"

Han "RISE!"

.......Just get Duncan Jones already Disney

Either Chris Nolan or Joss Wheadon although the latter will be busy with Avengers 2 I reckon
