This is pretty major, but I own a number of movies in Vudu(thanks to the Walmart disc to digital program, upgrading them to the HDX versions). Would it be possible in a future version to include movies available on Vudu?

You can do this already.
Simply by adding a Custom Media Type.
Those are not contributable though.
It all seems so stupid, it makes me want to give up!
But why should I give up, when it all seems so stupid?

I just discover Vudu, sorry if I get out of the topic  but it interest me
Is it just another VOD services? Do you own the digital files or is it just streaming?
Does it works in Europe?

I'm curious, sorry to bother

Thanks

Yeah, I got curious as well. Seems cool, but very expensive. See here. Appears to be steaming only. You pay on demand, by video quality, or you can "own" it. I'm not sure what that means yet.

VUDU offers 1080p resolution. It is a streaming service. You own the movie and can download it but you have to play it in a VUDU client you download from their site. All iOS devices and a lot of TV's and media boxes also have VUDU apps/channels so your movies are accessible almost anywhere. I don't own any Android or Windows Phone devices so I cannot speak to VUDU apps for those devices.

The 1080p prices are about the same price as buying a Blu Ray on newer movies but they are higher than Blu Ray on older movies for some reason.

Vudu is available for Android devices too.  Vudu's also UltraViolet (UV) compliant, just like CinemaNow and Flixster, so you can stream or download your UV digital copies that are common place with a lot of blu-ray releases now.

They also have a new Disc to Digital (D2D) @ Home app that allows you to convert your discs to UV compliant versions.  Converting blu-ray to an HDX stream is $2 a disc and for DVDs it's $2 for SD and $5 for HDX.  Flixster and CinemaNow also have beta versions of their own D2D @ home apps but both of those are only DVD for now.

Thanks to the heads up here, I went and collected all my UV codes and registered them. So far, everything has been free and easy. Sign up to VUDU, Flixster and UV sites all free. And now I can view about 30 movies that I "own" and several others provided as a promotion, legally, any time - any where. Cool. And you can even authorize additional users - up to three people can be streaming at a time. More cool.

I think I like the Ultraviolet concept now. I don't even bother with the other digital copies that require a download and association with a single specific machine.

The beauty of it is here in the States they have a deal with Walmart, for $5 a movie, if you have the DVD, you can upgrade to the HDX version on Vudu, which is 1080p with DD+ audio. And most movies have a Blu Ray version listed in the upgrade section, which only cost $2. Just select the Blu Ray version and bring the DVD to Walmart, most Walmart employees can't tell the difference!

All I can see is how to add DVDs and Blu Rays by the way...

You can also try Vudu's in home D2D service.  Although it's still in beta it works great.  Every disc isn't always recognized but you can report the disc/title through the program and Vudu will research the issue and add the titles as necessary.
