| Posted: | | | | I'd like to see this as well. However, knowing how hands-on Cameron is, and how much of his time will devoted to the 3 sequels to Avatar over the next few years, I'd say we won't see it anytime soon. | | | My phpDVDprofiler collection |

They are about the only ones to know the answer. My guess is that Eagle is right about Cameron. I don't think Fox can do anything until Cameron decides it is time. | | | My freeware tools for DVD Profiler users. Gunnar |

| Posted: | | | | That rumor is being pushed along for quite some time. But I'll take it, I want The Abyss just as much as True Lies. Cameron has to see the demand... | | | Achim [諾亞信; Ya-Shin//Nuo], a German in Taiwan. Registered: May 29, 2000 (at InterVocative) |

I hope they give us the extended edition of The Abyss right off the bat so I don't have to wait a year or two before I buy. 3D for The Abyss would be great and seeing as it is Cameron, it could happen. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | 2014 would make for the 25 th anniversary .. What has always amazed me with Cameron's decision about both of these dvd releases are that they are not available in anamorphic and I believe Abyss is not 5.1 sound either .. and from a film buff guy who takes great care in his other movies to be released such as Titanic and Avatar -which has had top marks for their quality on DVD and blue Ray ..
......I remember a couple years back ( but can't say about today) is when True Lies was broadcast on one of my local HD cable channel it was 'blown up' to fill in the 1:78 framing with no window boxing ( such as what non anamorphic transfers look like) .. and it again looked like Sh*t .. | | | In the 60's, People took Acid to make the world Weird. | Posted: | | | | At least they are widescreen and THX so the pictures are as good as non-anamorphic can be when played through my PS3 with it's upscaling. Don't get me wrong, I hate non-anamorphic movies...the worst example I can think of is the remake of "Mighty Joe Young" from Disney.
I have the special edition of The Abyss and it is 5.1. | | | Marty - Registered July 10, 2004, User since 2002. |

| Posted: | | | | Yeah it's definitely 5.1. The first release of Titanic wasn't anamorphic either but at least that fatality was remedied later.
But I'm afraid the ship has sailed for Mr. Cameron, I don't rebuy movies I already own anymore so I'll just wait for the HD streamable version. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |
