| Posted: | | | | I agree it would be nice with even just a live tiles movie picker or a "DVD Profiler Lite", no need to implement everything because you can just fire up the desktop version at any time.
Maybe someone of our plugin developers can come up with something... | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

| Posted: | | | | It's not that simple though. Windows Store Apps are completely independent software that function in different ways than Windows desktop apps. They are not just add-ons, or interfaces to desktop apps. They can only be distributed through Windows Store and must run on Windows RT. What you are basically asking is a port to another platform, very similar to iOS and Android versions. I don't believe that plugin developers can help in this case.
As much as I would like to see Windows Store App version of DVDP, I would MUCH rather see major overhaul in windows desktop version which would fix at least some of it's major problems. When that's done, I will support this request. |

| Posted: | | | | As long as you have access to the data such as an XML file you can do pretty much anything you want with it. But I'm only looking for a simple collection gallery or something else that allows me to pick movies, or pick a random movie, without the need to start the main application. | | | First registered: February 15, 2002 |

So true. I messed around with it for awhile. It was a programming nightmare for me (I'm not DJ, heh heh). I tried to port some code, and it was a lot of work because things are so different. On the other hand, there are some good sample Apps in the MS SDK that provide a basis for a simple App that reads the XML and does some cool things. But everything that Kulju said about Store Apps still applies. On top of that, you have to have a touch screen PC or RT tablet for testing. The emulator is so slow as to be useless, at least on my PC it was. | | | Thanks for your support. Free Plugins available here. Advanced plugins available here. Hey, new product!!! | Posted: | | | | I could not get around Windows App Store apps either.
I'm not much of a UI designer and never was (which you probably see when you look at my plugins) and with these apps you have to consider so many design things and I always have the feeling that nothing really lines up.
I'm also not a fan of the idea that you need to pay a yearly entrance fee to get your apps into their shops (Apple, MS) so they can claim what a great variety of apps they're offering in their store. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | I am starting to develop Modern UI apps now and this was one of my first ideas to practice: to build a gallery-like app taking the info from your personal online collection (no functionality). I don't know if there would be any problem with Invelos though... |

| Posted: | | | | I use Windows 8.1 at work (7 at home) on a non-touch desktop. I have done what I can to make sure I never see not-metro so I would not have any use for this, I'll stick with the desktop version thank you. | | | Tom. |

| Posted: | | | | I never though I would use "touch" on a laptop/desktop. It just didn't make sense to me. But after using an HP Touchpad (that I got cheaply), now whenever I use Windows 8 on my Ultrabook I keep wanting to touch the screen. Not for everything, mind you. I still go for the keyboard when I need to type, but in Word I often find myself going to touch the screen for Ribbon selections. I know now that my next notebook will have a touch screen (but also a keyboard). |
