| Posted: | | | | In my opinion these three modifications would make Audio Tracks section much better:
1. Instead of having commentary one of the drop down menu options it should be a check box in front of each row. This way the format would be: Commentary (check box), Content (drop down menu), Format (drop down menu), Channels (drop down menu). Then we would know the language of that particular commentary track.
2. More Content fields per row. For example Lars von Trier's Epidemic is about half and half English and Danish. There are many many examples of mixed languages audio tracks. Five would be good for starters. Usage of these fields should be described in rules very precisely so people wouldn't start to enter second language if there is word or two in different language.
3. Dividers This way we could separate Audio Tracks if same disc contains for example theatrical and extended version of the same film but with different audio tracks.

Some kind of improvement (like the Commentaries suggestion) would also be useful when a disc has two different language Audio Descriptive tracks, such as the recent Elysium Blu-ray & DVD, which has two seperate English and French Audio Descriptive tracks. It really doesn't tell the user much, except that there are two "Audio Descriptive" tracks...and even the back cover only lists them as "Audio Description Tracks" | | | Corey |

| Posted: | | | | Great idea, Audio Descriptive should be a check box too. |

I also would love to be able to add custom information for audio tracks where we can add languages (or even subtitles) not tracked by DVDP. Or even things like mixed music only/commentary tracks or music/effects tracks, or even commentary participants. | | | My DVD/Blu-ray Collection My Letterboxd Page |

Yeah, something like that, although... - I don't see a need for a "kind" field on Audio section. You could just remove it and Bonus feature selection from Type field and add all the options that are now under kind to type. Type: Main Feature, Alternate cut, Commentary, Music Only, Audio Descriptive, Special Effects. I have never heard about Audio trivia track. In best case there should be several Content fields to add mixed language tracks correctly. Content field should be the last on right, so if there's only one language on a track we don't have to scroll the window past empty fields. I would also do Subtitles a bit differently: Type: Main Feature, Alternate cut, Commentary, Trivia Kind: SDH, Close Captioned isn't subtitle, but well, why not. I really don't like that we would start to list features subtitles, except commentary. That could lead to a contribution nightmare. On same release one featurette can have subtitles A,B,C, One B,C,D and one none at all. From subtitles field you cannot figure out which has which. |

But that list mixes two things. You can have a main feature with a commentary track and an alternative cut with a commentary track (where it's explained why these cut choices were made). Quote:

Personally, I don't see the need for this. I know of multi-language films (like Kill Bill) but they have always the primary language and everything is just subtitles. The primary language being the one targeted at the main audience. Of course we could add Japanese to it but what for, exactly? And I would vote no on any profile change that would try to sell me the idea that there's something resembling German spoken in Die Hard. Quote:

I would add the CC here because then you can actually determine the language of the CC, which is not possible in the features section. | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online

| Posted: | | | | Regarding subtitles, imagine a British DVD that has both standard and SDH subtitles (I have such DVDs). The difference between both is the additional info *phone rings* *distant thunder*. In that case, the subtitle section would look as such: And the Audio section with a secondary language could look like this: | | | Karsten DVD Collectors Online
